The Northeast Energy Link, proposed by Bangor Hydro, its parent company, Emera, and National Grid, is a new 1,100 MW underground direct current (DC) transmission line linking southern New England with cost-effective renewable energy located in Northern Maine, New Brunswick, Atlantic Canada, and Quebec.

The Northeast Energy Link is proposed to run  230 miles underground between Orrington, Maine and Tewksbury, Massachusetts.  The line's transmission capacity will be paid for by generators, bringing cost-competitive carbon-free energy to meet the southern New England electric load.
